




The conventional horizontal wind turbine can be rotated with small wind force but
it's easily influenced by the wind direction so that rotation is unstable. Further
efficiency is decreased due to turbulence of airflow and noise and vibration were
occurred easily.
On the other hand, even though the conventional vertical wind turbine would not
be affected by wind direction and the rotation was stable and noise and vibration
were little, the problem was that in order to initiate a rotation, a certain amount of
wind power was necessary.
If not effected by wind direction and noise and vibration is little;
And if rotation can be initiated by small wind power and generator efficiency can be
higher, then Vertical Turbines shall become more ideal one.
One of the idea is why not initiate the rotation with small wind power by using
gears, clutches and motors in the vertical turbine?
However, that will make the mechanics complicate and likely will cause failure and
noise/vibration and will also make it heavy.
